Maserati is one of the most famed Italian sports car manufacturer just like Ferrari and have come up with incredible vehicles for years consistently. However, this year has not been very favorable for the brand with only Turismo/Grand Cabrio, which is rather dated model, being launched that keep their reputation as a sports car manufacturer alive. However, the brand has its surprises and had debuted the absolutely new mid-engine Maserati MC20 that comes in petrol, electric and even convertible variants. But apart from that, it has a rather mysterious history even before it hits the showroom that is surely going to instigate some curiosity among the buyers.

Maserati MC20 2021

The new vehicle follows the name and legacy of the MC12 which was launches in the early 2000s. It is also not a replacement for the mighty, fire-breathing v12 powered supercar but has its uniqueness. For the MC20, you get twin Turbocharged, Twin combustion, 3-liter V6 petrol engine. It is half the size of M12, yet manages to match the power output nearly equally. The power output of MC20 is 621hp with 729 Nm torque. This is because the Nutteno V6 engine that powers the car is a custom-made bespoke engine, specifically tailored for this model. The F-1 inspired technology used to boost the power to the optimum and it is like an additional combustion chamber outside the cylinder. The specification of the electric version is partly mystery as the brand have not revealed any details about the same, like its battery capacity and charging. But it is promised that the electric version can go from 0 to 100kmph in just 2.8 seconds, which means, it will definitely have massively powerful specifications to flaunt. The maximum speed you can attain at a go is 310kmph which is commendable for a car that can make 323kmph maximum.

Moreover, the weight of the car is 1500kg which is quite light and is maintained at this figure because of the clever engineering of the brand. The monocoque carbon-fiber tub is developed by Maserati and Dallara which can be fitted in all the versions of the car model with minor modifications.

Coming to the aesthetics of the car which is quite striking but not unique in the world of supercars. The mesh grille is simple which is flanked by large Led headlights and the trident badge sits in the middle of the grille. The taillights are equally sharp and slim and the backend features twin exhaust tips. They are mounted right under the license plate and the diffuser. The body has strong cuts and creases and contours that add to its appeal and in the inside of the car, you get leather or alcantara upholstery with blue stitching. It is also equipped with the Maserati Intelligence Assistance or MIA which have several unique connectivity features.

The starting price of the car in the US will be US $210,000 and is definitely an appealing supercar on pen and paper. Whether it is same in real- we have to wait till its launch to tell.
