The full form of BS4 stands for Bharat Stage 4 is the standard norms set by the governing body to control air pollution from our vehicles. These norms ensure the emission of polluted gas up to a limit for the vehicle engine and fuel. Although according to the deadline of the Supreme Court the entire BS4 stock has to be dispose but the current pandemic leads to extension of this deadline by Supreme Court.

The request of federation of automobile dealers association (FADA) asking for more time to register the vahan post lockdown by Supreme Court. At first the court granted BS4 vehicle with only 10 day time to register post lockdown which the automobile dealers oppose as it is a very short period of time considering for the buyers. Now the Supreme Court has extended the 31 march time limit considering the sale of the vehicle in India. It is clearly stated that the vehicle will be registered within 10 days post the sale and no BS4 vehicle will be allowed to sale in NCR Delhi.

The orders issued in July 8, by the Supreme Court, for the automobile dealers on giving 10 day time for the BS4 vehicle after the lockdown was withdrawn. Before the withdrawn order was issued the court permitted the dealers to and register up to 1.05 lack BS4 vehicle. But as per the new court order the registration period is extended the sale of the vehicle also increased in a rapid rate. The court stated the number to be 2.55 lakh vehicle of BS4 was sold, that surpass the number of vehicle ordered.

The court has instructed the federation of automobile dealers (FADA) to put forward the details of every BS4 vehicle that is sold after the order came to effect on 27 march, 2020. Supreme Court also warned the dealer to not take any advantage of the earlier decree and without orders no new vehicles can be registered.

The court bound the number of sale and registration to be up to 1.05 lakh of BS4 vehicle after the lockdown. Supreme Court has also instructed the government for all the information related to the BS4 vehicles. This data is not uploaded on the portal of eVahan site after 31 March, 2020. The case hearing will be now held on 31 July, 2020 on the Supreme Court.
