Portofino was originally launched by Ferrari as a replacement for California T three years back and now the updated and more powerful version is soon to be launched. The Portofino M is an “entry-level” tourer and has come with a number of notable internal and external upgrades when compared to the original Portofino. The full name of the car is Portofino Modifiata.
The car is powered by a 3.9 litre V8 twin-turbo engine that can give a total output of 612 hp. The power generated is equivalent to that of Ferrari Roma. The torque of the car is same as the original model at 716 Nm. There is an 8-speed automatic gearbox that can enhance the torque delivery by 35 percent, compared to the DCT unit found in the regular Portofino. The sprint of the car has been increased by 0.05 seconds than the original and the Portofino M can reach 0-100kmph at 3.45 seconds. To reach 0-200kmph, the car needs 9.8 seconds. The highest speed of this car is 320 kmph.
There are several features that set apart the new Portofino M from a regular version of the car. There are some striking visual changes which give it a more aggressive demeanour, such as changes in the grille and bumper. There is a side “scallop” air vent on the Portofino which is a new addition that extends till the front bumper and it is helpful in cooling the engine. There is also an all-new Manettino dial that can change between five different modes including a racing mode. It is a GT model which let you add more comfortable features like heated and ventilated seats and advanced different driving assistance system or ADAS. This feature is highly convenient for new as well as experienced drivers on the road.
This is also the first model to come from the Ferrari plant which had been temporarily closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It is expected that there will be a second global debut from the brand during the end of this year. The launch yet to come might be the more potent version of the 812 Superfast as several prototypes of the model has been spotted recently.
In short, it can be concluded that the Ferrari Portofino M may be the first launch by the brand after a temporary closure, but it has definitely surpassed expectations among many car enthusiasts.
