India finally launches the Land Rover Defender in a price of Rs 73.98 lakh

It is almost a year when the Land rover first unveiled their Defender in the Frankfurt motor show in September 2019. Now the model is finally available in the Indian market, earlier this year before the Defender go launched in India the Land Rover has already announced the price of the car and booking is also made available. All those who grabbed this opportunity beforehand got the car in the lower introductory price which will be at least 4 lakh rupees less than the actual price of the car. But the higher price will be applied to those buyers who will book the car from today’s date onward. Although the automobile company is taking new order for the defender 110 variant but the defender 90 is not currently available for deliveries and will start delivering from the coming month of April- July 2021.

The Defender is available in two different body styles with five different trim level options to choose from by the buyers. The price also varies according to the different trim level starting from 73.98 Lakh to 89.63 lakh rupee.

Defender 110

Base- Rs 79.94 lakh

SE- Rs 86.64 lakh

HSE- Rs 90.46 lakh

First Edition- Rs 89.63

Dimensions of the Land Rover defender

Both the variant 90 and 110 of the defender comes in the same width of 2,008 mm and the highest depth of waddling is 900mm. Defender 110 measures 1,967mm in height and 5,018mm in length with 3,022mm long wheelbase. The smaller Defender 90 comes in 1,974 mm height and 4,583 mm length and the wheelbase height is 2,587 mm. As the defender 110 and 90 varies in size the 110 variant are a 5 door and seven seater cars whereas the 90 variant is a three door 5 seater cars.

The land rovers are packed with all the new features and equipment available in other latest automobiles.

  • A 10 inch touch screen infotainment unit which is quite a large screen.
  • A heads up display, automatic climate control unit, wireless charging system, and car connected tech also a meridian audio system.
  • There is a 12.3 inch digital instrument cluster easy to spot at any time of the day.
  • Heated front seat which is 12 – way electrically adjustable.
  • A 360 degree surrounded camera
  • Electronic air suspension standard on the 110 version and LED headlights.
  • The interior comes in woven textile seats grained leather with flooring made of rubber makes it easier to wash the car.

Under the hood of the Land Rover Defender

In the global market the new defender is available in both four cylindered diesel and six cylindered petrol option. For the Indian market the Defender is powered by four cylindered turbo –petrol engine putting out in a torque rate of300Hp and 400 Nm torque which is quite a powerful engine. The company also claims that it takes the car 8.0sec 90 version and 8.1 sec in the 110 to get up to 0-100 kph. The four wheel drive is standard for the Defender and the 8 speed gearbox is also usual for the car.

The cars come with standard safety measure like.

  • Traction control.
  • Rear parking sensor
  • A condition monitor for driver
  • Blind spot assist

There no particular rival to the Land Rover Defender but the Jeep Wrangler will be a competitor in Indian market. The 110 variant made it first to Indian through the CBU route and the 90 is yet to follow and delayed due to the current covid pandemic.
