The new subcompact SUV by Kia Sonet is production ready and its official rendering has already been revealed by the brand. The highlight of the rendered image is definitely the stylish and bold look of the car that is surely grabbing our attention.
The global debut of Kia Sonet is due on August 7, 2020 and it is a much awaited new for four-wheeler enthusiasts and fans of the brand. A few production ready images which had leaked earlier gave us a glimpse of the rear area and the profile of the vehicle, adding to our anticipations more. The South Korean company did not let this opportunity go as they strive to keep up the hype and enthusiasm of buyers by revealing the official rendered image of the car. The car has the signature style traits of the subcompact SUV genre specifically produced by Kia Sonnet. The tiger-nose grille along with a three dimensional “step-well” made from grille mesh, just makes the presence and boldness of the design even more impactful.
Priced between 7-12 lakhs approximately, the Kia Sonet Subcompact SUV is going to the second production of the brand that is “made in India”. The first one with this tag was the Seltos SUV. For the domestic market, this is going to be the third production after Carnival MPV and Seltos. The brand was first brought into limelight in India at the Auto Expo 2020. As for the subcompact SUV from this brand- it is scheduled to make a global debut in August and will be officially available in the Indian market during the festive seasons.
According to the Senior Vice President and head of Kia design centre, Karim Habib, they aimed to give the subcompact SUV a strong and masculine look that is more common for larger vehicles. The dynamic silhouette along with a sporty feel and look makes the car quite impressive. It has a look that exudes power and functionality. The detailing of the car is stunning and have been done without any compromise, as Habib mentions. The selection of colour and the materials used in making of the car is a tribute to all the cultural heritages that the brand’s designers noted all over India. In brief, it can be said that the subcompact SUV is specifically designed for Indian road and terrains and in India. Habibs further expects the overall designing and attribute will help the brand to connect with the young and older generation alike with this vehicle.
In terms of the mechanical front of the car, its engine is borrowed from Hyundai Venue. The variants are 1.2l petrol, 1.5l diesel and 1l GDI turbo petrol engine. The subcompact SUV from Sonet will also get clutch-less IMT that reminds us of the Hyundai Venue model as well.
