Mercedes is taking preparation to rival against the Tesla Model S in the electric luxury sedan market that is growing rapidly. For this, they are aggressively road testing the EQS all electric sedan in multiple locations of Europe. As per experts on automobiles, the features that Mercedes Benz EQS is going to display can give a tough competition not only to the Tesla Model S but also for the Porsche Taycan. It is also expected to be comparable and a tough competitor for the upcoming Jaguar XJ electric sedan and Audi E-tron GT. The main highlights about this model is that it is among the most superior electric models the brand has come up with. It will also feature a carved rooftop along with a CLF –like engine. The range of the car is expected to be more than 700km.
Design upgrades for Mercedes Benz EQS
The new EQS model from Mercedes Benz will be all electric sedan and there are a few significant upgrades that the buyers can expect. Swooping roofline and a slimmer headlight are significant changes that have been externally made to the aesthetics of the car. The new headlight design is also going to be a part of the design for newer models that will be coming up now on from the brand. The size of the new model is comparable to the Mercedes Benz CLS four door coup. Also, the design is to remain similar to the vision concept of the car in most cases. The vision concept was put on display last year at the Frankfurt motor show. The bonnet is comparatively shorter and the windscreen is heavily raked compared to the usual standard of the S-class.
EQS is the top of its range model and will be the first EQ model to feature the Modular Electric Architecture or MEA which is a dedicated technology from Mercedes. One of the key engineering solutions, there is a flat floor structure along with the aluminium intensive MEA platform.
EQS range is considered synonymous to luxury and comfort with features that resonate the standard and class highlighted by S-class. The Mercedes Benz EQS is going to be the first among the 10- strong electric models in the range from the brand and will be made available by the middle of 2020. The EQS models will be produced from Sindelfingen factory which is located in the outskirts of Stuttgart. This is also going to be the third plant situated in Germany that is being earmarked for producing the EQS models.
EQS models are further expected to be powered by two electric motors in the front as well as rear axle. This helps the car to have a permanent four wheel drive. The new sedan is likely to have more than 400 hp and 700Nm and a range of 700km. all these together, help the new sedan to be the top of its range luxurious model to be launched soon.
