Tata HBX testing spied before launch- here’s what we found!

The Tata HBX is scheduled to be launched in the end of 2020 and is one of the top models from the brand that will be based on the ALFA platform. The car is likely to be powered by a 1.2 litre petrol motor. These are some of the key highlights about the car that we have found out and they have also triggered the curiosity of many who have been awaiting the launch for a while now.

The Tata HBX compact SUV is one of the much awaited launch by the brand and it is undergoing all types of test drives and road testing possible before it is being officially launched in the end of 2020. The production-spec SUV was first unveiled in the Auto expo 2020 and was expected to be launched soon after. However, the launch got postponed since the COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent lockdown. Finally the car is expected to be released in the end of the year in India as per reliable sources. The car takes a wraps off the H2X after the 2019 Geneva Motor Show. The futuristic and sporty design of the car along with new design elements sets it apart from the previous models in the same genre that were launched by Tata. Compared to Tata Altroz, it will be having 50mm smaller wheels but will also be based on the same ALFA platform. The LED headlights are sleeker and the nose reminds of the Harrier model. The structure of the bumpers is rather imposing which also signifies the aggressive and robust body one can expect. The Tata HBX can expect close competition from existing compact SUV models as well as about to be launched options like the Datsun Go+, Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon, and Renault Triber.

The recently spotted test mule of the Tata HBX was heavily camouflaged but it was very evident that the prototype noticed in road testing had similar body panels as witnessed in the production specific model. According to sources at Tata motors, the production version is going to be 90 percent similar to the HBX version and this is definitely confirmed by the spy shots that were taken of the test mule. The model will be powered by a 1.2 litre Revotron petrol motor which can make up to 85 bhp and 113Nm peak torque. Along with that it will also have a 5 speed transmission manual gearbox and the AMT will be an optional choice.
