Lucid Motors is an upstart EV brand that is backed by Saudi Arabia Public Investment Fund. They have revealed their first product which is the Lucid Air. The brand has its head-quarter in Silicon Valley and is all set to compete against Tesla’s dominance in the automobile market because of its EV line-up. The brand has already announced that they are going to release the Air Saloon, which is going to be the fastest charging electric vehicle ever. It can charge at the rate of up to 20 miles (32km) per minute. In real situations, this means that the car can go 300 miles with just 20 minutes of charge. Given a full charge, it can go up to 517 miles of distance. This is the longest EV range in the world.
The automotive packaging of the Lucid Air is done following the Lucid Space concept. With this approach optimizes the interior cabin space of the car by miniaturizing Lucid’s in-house developed EV drivetrain. This concept is going to be the central idea for the Lucid Electric Advanced Platform (LEAP), based on which the saloon and all the upcoming vehicles are built, will be based on this concept.
Lucid Air’s packaging is done in a way that provides a full-size luxury-class interior while also maintaining the dynamic. Sport saloon footprint. The cabin has “free-form” displays, a 34” curved glass cockpit, and 5K display floating above the dashboard, giving more spaciousness to the interior.
The motto of Lucid Motors behind this car is to improve their electric car and take the entire industry forward towards sustainable mobility. The relentless effort behind creating the most advanced electric vehicle in the world is motivated by the thought of all mankind benefitting from sustainable transmission with zero-emission. The goal is to make the EVs more attractive to new customers as well. Peter Rawlinson, the CEO and CTO of Lucid Motors has claimed that with the Lucid Air, they are able to create a halo car for the entire industry, and by pushing the boundaries of EV technology and performance to new levels, they have created a benchmark for others.
The vehicle, with dual-motor, and an all-wheel-drive structure, has a power of up to 1080 horsepower. The Lucid Air can go a quarter-mile in just 9.9 seconds and consistently. According to Lucid, this is the only electric saloon capable of covering a quarter-mile within less than 10 seconds. There are 10 years of experience behind the development of the car, and over 20 million miles of real-world testing has been done to create the compact 113kWh extended-range battery pack.
