Mahindra Thar is the most awaited car of 2020 and it has a lot of hopes attached to it. Booking for the new off-roader has begun at the time of launch across the country. The 2020 Thar will be powered by a 2.2 Litre diesel engine or a 2.0 Litre turbo-charged petrol engine mated to either a 6-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed torque converter type automatic transmission. It will get a part-time four-wheel drive system paired with a low range gearbox and a mechanical locking differential.
Features on offer on The Thar includes dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, front power windows, tyre pressure monitoring system, ESP with roll-over mitigation, ISOFIX child seat anchors, fog lamps, cruise control, tilt-adjustable steering, downhill assist, electric AC, height adjustable driver’s seat and a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay or AndroidAuto. All-in-all, the new Thar is more sophisticated and modern compared to its predecessor.

With the launch of the new Thar, most of the details of this off-roader SUV have been revealed. There is a plethora of accessories on offer, both for aesthetics and for off-road use. Mahindra is offering two packs with set perimeters: Dark Lord and Chrome Hero. As the name suggests, in the Dark Lord pack, there is abundance of dark theme all over the car. May it be the cladding on the front bumper, the damper, the headlamp appliqué, the front grille, the dark theme gives the car an angry and dangerous look. The Chrome Hero pack offers chrome plated appliqués which provide a classy look. The addition of chrome is made in the fog lamp housing, head lamp housing and the rear fog lamp. The chrome of the tail lamp appliqué acts as an eye candy. All over, the exterior pack comprises front bumper cladding, front bumper appliqué, wheel-arch cladding, ORVMs, tail lamps and shoulder line. Other cosmetic options include chrome inserts, body cladding, ring-protector for the 18-inch alloy wheels, front bug deflector, side door cladding, plastic footstep and side decals.

Moving to the interiors, the buyer is offered with a lot of seat cover options, floor mats, steering wheel cover, a magnetic sunshade for the front windows and scuff plates. The AX variants also get a full floor lamination mat, remote key and the LX variant’s roof speaker mounting kit. The music system can be upgraded to a variant of vibe branded speakers as well as amplifiers and subwoofers. Other accessories include a parking camera, LED DRLs, a range of full and half body cover options and a mud flap set for the front and rear. Additionally, customers can purchase tyre repair kit, digital tyre gauge and air compressor from the company to add to their survival kit. But the main attraction of the accessories is the official GoPro camera and related accessories offered by the company. The company is offering several GoPro camera model along with accessories from the brand, to help mount the camera at various places around the SUV.
