The next big launch by this Japanese car brand in India is the Toyota Urban Cruiser this September. Pre-booking for the same will be made available from third week of August. The car is a rebadged version of the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza. Launches from Toyota are much awaited owing to the popularity enjoyed by the brand among India customers and this is going to be a major launch in a long time from them. The Toyota Glanza Hatchback was the first rebadged vehicle from the brand produced from the Toyota and Maruti global partnership.
Even though the Urban Cruiser is the second rebadged car produced by the brand, it has little similarities to the Vitara Brezza. The design of the new Urban Cruiser is significantly different from many aspects. The design has not been officially revealed yet but it is expected that the new model will receive a new design for the grille as well as for the front and the rear end bumpers. To keep the pricing competitive and suitable for the masses, the headlights, tail lights, and alloy wheels will also be tweaked and redesigned.
The interior design and the layout of the car is likely to remain unchanged. The only difference we are expecting is a lighter colour theme inside the car and the Toyota badge on the steering wheel. The features of the Toyota urban cruiser is going to be rather lucrative with a touchscreen infotainment system that can be connected to the smart phone and ability to use voice commands. The driver seat will be height adjustable and there is a luxurious leather wrapped steering wheel for better grip. The rear seats splits is in the ratio of 60:40 and the most useful feature is the rear parking camera that can make your parking as smooth as it can get.

While there are significant changes in the exterior and interior of the new model from Toyota in terms of design, the engine remains unchanged. Just like the Vitara Brezza, the Toyota Urban cruiser will also be powered by 1.5l petrol engine which is equipped with SHVS system that is mildly hybrid. The engine is BS6 compliant and produce a power of 105PS and 138Nm. There will be two variants of the car in terms of the speed- a 5-speed manual speed transmission gearbox or the 4-speed automatic transmission. This is a notable difference from the Vitara Brezza which got automatic gearbox only.

The showroom price of the Toyota Urban Cruiser will be starting from 7.5 lakhs and it is expected to have a tough competition from various other models like the Hyundai Venue, Mahindra XUV300, Nissan Magnite, Renault Kiger, Ford EcoSport and so on. However, the launch is still going to be very exciting for loyal customers of the brand who are looking forward to buying their second or third car and this is going to be one of the most cost-effective and budget friendly compact SUV offered by the brand in India.
