Although missing in action for some time, the Honda HRV finally made a comeback last year in the UAE. Now with better styling and a super-efficient engine, the HRV is one of the most popular compact crossover ever. Now more brands trying to make more of these vehicles for masses, the HRV has got a lot of competition. And it has come with a lot of improvements in recent times. But whether or not it’s enough to keep the competition behind, only time will tell.

The last time the Honda HRV was seen in the UAE, it was not at all very impressive. However, after being reintroduced in the year 2019 in the GCC, things are looking up for the model. Let’s find out what the new 2020 HRV has to offer.
Pros:
- Better fuel economy
- The rear seat space
- Improved exterior
Cons:
- The infotainment system
- Rear seatbelt replacement
- Speed isn’t much
Behind the wheels of the 2020 Honda HRV

The HRV lineup only offers front-wheel drive so forget about navigating through the dunes in it. However, the high-riding compact crossover comes with hatchback handling and reduced body roll. A fuel-efficient 1.8-litre four-cylinder combined with a CVT gearbox makes for a powerful drive. The Honda HRV may not be very fast, but you get an impressive mileage of 10.9km/l.
Also, despite having a compact size, the car will not get pushed around by larger automobiles on the highway, and its noise cancellation is decent.

The model displays the signature front grille of Honda and powerful DRL headlights. The elegant lines on the body flow seamlessly, and the best part about the design is the hidden rear door handles. These door handles mix perfectly with the bodywork of the car to give it a sleek appearance. The alloy rims add to the sophistication of the design and imbue character to the vehicle.

The 2020 Honda HRV from the inside
The interior of the car is quite impressive too. For a compact crossover, this five-seater is quite comfortable and spacious. Although it’s a budget-friendly car, the cabin has a luxurious look and feel to it. The best part is that it comes with a neat and tidy cabin that’s simple, yet classy, so you are not left to figure a bunch of buttons to operate the car. The best features of the vehicle have to be the following three:
- Though the row of air-con vents on the passenger-side dashboard, which is unlike any other car. Instead of one vent on each side of the vehicle, there’s just a bar that blows cold air towards your face.
- Next is the A/C control unit, which disappears when the car is off. But once you turn the vehicle on, the backlit digital display automatically brighten up, and the traditional dials and buttons get replaced.
- Lastly, the panoramic sunroof has to be mentioned, as very few competitors of the model have such a unique feature that customers all around seem to appreciate.
All in all, the 2020 Honda HRV may have arrived late in the UAE, but fashionably so. The model may have its lacks in certain areas, but it makes up for it in its appearance and by being hugely fuel-economical.
